The Ashbrook Center is pleased to provide homeschool families with a free high-school-level curriculum in American History and Government. The curriculum uses primary sources to guide students through the history of our great nation, reading the words of those who formed it and guided it to where we are today. We believe the best way for students to learn about history is to be exposed to the words of those who made history, not through textbooks and secondary sources which too often present a skewed version of the past. Each unit provides many additional readings to support the primary document. Each unit also provides multiple assessment options for students to demonstrate their knowledge.

Without knowledge of our unique history, the next generation of Americans will not understand the fundamental principles of our government, the vital importance of their rights, and the duties they must perform to keep freedom alive. Textbooks offer only an interpretation, but original historical documents put students into direct contact with the facts, and with the ideas, opinions, and emotions of the men and women who struggled to build and preserve this country. Great Americans like Washington, Lincoln, and Frederick Douglass are far better equipped than a textbook to help our students learn the core ideas that define our history and form of government. The documents are about all of this—the still unfinished American experiment in self-government. Below is a full list of completed and planned collections.

Хейл мог понять смысл лишь двух слов. Но этого было достаточно.
